With the Federal Election now less than two weeks away, the NUW has continued its support for the Your Rights at Work campaign with a recent community BBQ at Stokes Australasia.

This BBQ was part of the marginal seat campaign in the crucial outer Melbourne seat of Deakin.

This seat is currently held by Liberal Phillip Barresi, who has been the sitting member since 1996.

In fact, Deakin has been a Liberal Party stronghold since 1937, only being held by the ALP from 1983-84.

To win the seat of Deakin on November 24, the ALP will need a swing of five percent for candidate Mike Symon to take the seat.

It, like so many, is a crucial seat in determining if there will be a change of Government on November 24 to allow the unfair and unjust Howard Government’s unfair IR laws to be removed forever.

The NUW has played a major role in supporting the YRAW marginal seat campaign in Deakin, with the recent BBQ just one of the many events we have been involved in.
