YRAW campaign makes big impact in marginal seats

The union movement's Your Rights at Work campaign has featured heavily on the political hustings in the week before voters head to the polls.
In the marginal Tasmanian seat of Braddon - a seat tipped to return to the Labor Party on the back of voter anger over the Federal Government's IR laws - the NUW's custom-built Your Rights at Work BBQ trailer was photogrpahed (left) by the Hobart Mercury on Wednesday (November 22, 2007) shadowing the Prime Minister John Howard, who was visiting the area in a desperate effort to save his party from a likely electoral defeat.
Meanwhile, in the Victorian marginal seat of Deakin, NUW members have been busy door knocking voters in the area to discuss the Government's IR laws.
Marcello has spent around 20 hours a week in the lead up to Saturday's Federal Election touring the Deakin electorate to speak with voters about what kind of workplace laws they want.
"I love door knocking. I love meeting people and I love talking to people," he said.
Marcello also said he has noticed a swing towards the Labor Party in the seat as the election approaches. He believes that Labor candidate Mike Symonds has a real chance of winning the seat off a Government who has hurt working families with their IR laws.
The Your Rights at Work campaign has been hugely successful in raising awareness about the Howard Government's IR laws in marginal seats across the country. The only thing left now is for Australians to decide which party is better able to protect the interets of working people of their families.
