NSW Branch sends clear message to John Howard at November 30 rally

Friday December 15, 2006

NSW Branch members turned out in huge numbers to protest the Howard Government’s anti-worker, anti-family Industrial Relations legislation at the National Day of Action on November 30.

Resplendent in their fluorescent safety vests and with flags held high NUW members rallied in their thousands to send a message to John Howard that they would not take this blatant attack on their rights lying down.

NSW Branch members dominated the crowd to watch the Sky Channel hook-up and led the march through the Sydney city streets with pride.

There is no doubt the NSW members are prepared to stand up and fight against the Howard Government’s radical and ideologically-driven legislation.

While the Federal Government might think momentum for the campaign is waning, you just need to look at the photos below to know that the NUW’s campaign – particularly in NSW – is going strong.

But while the huge turn out on November 30 was extremely pleasing everyone left with a very clear message; while supporting rallies is a great contribution to the cause, the only real way to win this fight is to vote the Howard Government out at the 2007 Federal Election.

There was no doubt the NUW dominated the crowd.
