Queensland Branch rallies behind Oakey family

The National Union of Workers (Queensland Branch) helped make a member’s Christmas just a little bit brighter, after stepping in to assist David Adamson and his family when they lost everything in a house fire late last year.
The Adamson’s house was destroyed in the November fire, so the NUW teamed with David’s employers Spotless/Tenix, to support the family and help ease the burden of their shattering loss.
The NUW presented David and his family with four hampers and a holiday to the Gold Coast, while Tenix and Spotless also donated vouchers and cash to the family.
Queensland Branch Secretary Mark Furner said as soon as he heard about the Adamson’s plight the Branch was keen to assist.
“Nothing can replace the memories and keepsakes that David and his family have lost,” Furner said. “It is a terrible situation and as a union we were keen to do everything we could to assist David and his family.
“Hopefully this small gesture can help David and his family start to rebuild their home and get back on their feet.”
