Turning back the tide

Around 120 new full-time positions will be created at Golden Circle in Queensland after a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement was struck at the site.
Queensland State Secretary Mark Furner welcomed the deal, saying it gave members at the site some true job security.
“The new full-time positions have been a long time coming,” Furner said. “However long-term casuals, who will be the main beneficiaries of the new arrangements, will finally be provided with some security in their employment.
“In a country where the trend has been for full-time employment to be replaced by casual or part-time positions at alarming rates – no thanks to the current Federal Government – it is pleasing to see the reverse occurring at Golden Circle in Queensland.”
