Fight for the future
Monday July 02, 2007
Workers under the age of 30 are invited to attend the ‘Fight for the Future’ conference in Adelaide at the end of this month.
Fight for the Future - the National Young Workers’ Conference - will be held on July 26 and 27 at the University of Adelaide.
The free conference is being hosted by SA Unions U-Who Project. The project aims to help young employees improve their working lives.
The conference will focus on how young people can work together to fight for their rights in the workplace.
Young workers from across Australia will come together at the conference to share their experiences and hear first hand how the Federal Government’s radical IR laws are impacting on young people.
Young people have been significantly disadvantaged by the changes to work laws and electoral enrolment procedures over the past year.
The importance of enrolling to vote and making informed choices on election day will also be discussed.
The conference will feature workshops for high school and TAFE students, union organisers, delegates and activists, as well as community and grassroots activists.
Participants will develop action plans that can be implemented upon their return to school or work.
There will also be lots of excellent guest speakers, including young workers, parents, teachers and community leaders.
All the speakers will give different perspectives on the issues young people are experiencing in today’s workplace.
But it won’t be a talk- fest! The conference will focus on building relationships and team work through the use of creativity, energy, fun, and action-based activities.
The conference will be an excellent opportunity for any young person who cares about their workplace.
Registration is free, so why not register right now? You can download a registration form below.
