SA Ingham's Delegate Rachel Heydon will now be ready to tackle any issue on behalf of her workmates after taking part in the 'Sovanna Soy Union Summer Program'.

"The course ran for three weeks and was organised through SA Unions," Rachel said.

"It gave me a great insight into the workings of the Union and the day to day tasks of an Organiser. On the very first day we protested outside Senator Nick Michin's Office against the Howard Governments' extreme IR laws.

"I was also interviewed on the "Your Rights at Night" radio show; visiting the South Australian Industrial Commission to view an Agreement being certified, and visiting other work sites such as Aldinga Table Turkeys (owned by Ingham's).

"On the 'cross-union day' I did some work with the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers' Union in the aged care sector.

"It was interesting to see that most unions and work sites have similar issues as we do. I also helped organize for our Union Collective Agreement negotiations that will commence later this year. I would like to thank SA Unions and NUW for this inspiring and great opportunity."

Rachel will return to Inghams all the better for her experience, and will be able to assist her fellow NUW members at Inghams when they need help.
