3CR will hold their annual radiothon in June
|
Melbourne radio station 3CR will soon launch its annual radiothon.
This year’s theme is At it Again, with the radiothon running from June 4 to 17. 3CR is hoping to raise $200,000 during this period to ensure the station can continue broadcasting free of Government or corporate funding.
3CR provides a crucial service as an independent voice within Australia’s media landscape. The station is a particularly strong trade union supporter, with no less than 10 industrial programs airing each week.
The programs are all run by experienced union volunteers that provide a genuine voice for working people and their families.
The programs frequently focus on industrial issues the mainstream media avoids, giving listeners an idea of what’s really happening to employees under the Federal Government’s IR laws.
“3CR is an admirable, critical part of the media that offers the Australian people a genuine diversity of opinion denied them by the so-called mainstream,” said best-selling Australian author John Pilger.
