Mossvale Music Festival set for March

Thursday February 08, 2007

Next month will see the return of the Mossvale Music Festival.

Situated in gorgeous Mossvale Park in the heart of Victoria’s Gippsland, the Mossvale Music Festival will take place on March 17 from 12 noon until dusk.

Headlining this year’s festival and returning due to popular demand will be American blues/gospel artist Eric Bibb.

Bibb will be joined by Englishman Danny Thompson, possibly the finest acoustic bass player the world has seen.

With the festival being held on St. Patrick’s Day, Kevin Burke from seminal Irish bands Patrick Street and Bothy Band will play dynamic fiddle alongside the driving energy and delicate guitar of singer and ex-Battlefield member Ged Foley.

And direct from sold-out performance in the USA, The Mammals will explode onto the Mossvale stage with their wild-eyed roots music.

On the local front, The Audreys – 2006 ARIA Winners and one of the most in-demand bands in Australia – will perform what is sure to be a stylish, beautiful, and no doubt unforgettable live set.

Alongside some of the better-known roots artists and groups, this year’s festival will also feature some of Australia’s most talented younger musicians, including CW Stoneking, Jackie Marshall, Liz Stringer, Bill Jackson and Floyd Thursby.

And if the stellar line-up wasn’t enough, some of Gippsland’s finest food and wine vendors will provide a culinary treat to match the musical treat the festival will provide. There is also free parking for festival attendees.

The festival is presented by South Gippsland’s local arts councils – Lyrebird, Prom Coast, and Mirboo North.

NUW members can purchase tickets for just $32 (as can concession holders and arts council members), with regular tickets $38. Children under 16 can enter for free with an adult.
