Victorian Delegates' Conference 2006
Thursday September 21, 2006
Over 600 Delegates from across Victoria filled the Atrium Room at Flemington Racecourse for the 2006 Delegates' Conference.
In the first Conference of its kind since the introduction of the Howard Government's extreme IR laws, Delegates heard excellent talks from Victorian IR Minister Rob Hulls, ACTU Secretary Greg Combet, NUW National Secretary Charlie Donnelly, and Victorian Secretary Antony Thow.
Each of these key figures in the battle against the Howard Government's IR laws stressed that despite the new industrial landscape, the union movement and the NUW in particular were still achieving for members, had many positive initiatives for the future, and would fight for as long as necessary until a new industrial system based on democracy and collective bargaining was introduced in Australia.
Below are some of the highlights from a hugely successful 2006 Victorian Delegates' Conference.
