Kemalex dispute in pictures
Monday June 27, 2005
For well over two months, NUW members have been protesting against their employer, Kemalex Plastics, after a decision by the company to force all future employees onto independent contracts.
Since the dispute began on April 27, the Kemalex workers have been visited by several prominent members of both the union movement and the Australian Labor Party. The NUW would like to thank those below for visiting the Kemalex workers, as well as extend a huge thank you to all those union officials and concerned community members who have visited the protest to lend their support.
Visitors to the site have so far included ACTU Secretary, Greg Combet; Federal Shadow Industrial Relations Spokesman, Stephen Smith; Federal MP Anne Corcoran; Victorian Police Minister, Tim Holding; National Secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, Doug Cameron; and the National Assistant Secretary (Construction Division) of the Construction, Forestry, Mining, and Energy Union, Dave Noonan; and the Secretary of the Victorian Trades Halls Council, Brian Boyd.
