Industrial Representation
The NUW is registered under the Workplace Relations Act 1996 and represents workers on matters of wages and conditions, including unfair dismissals in the Australian Industrial Relations Commission, and in industry and company based negotiations. Workers employed under The Victorian State System are fully represented and their wages and conditions protected. NUW members enjoy the benefits of enterprise agreements. In addition each branch of the union is registered in the various state industrial relations systems.
Occupational Health & Safety
Occupational Health and Safety is an extremely important issue to Union members. All members have a right to return home from work safely. The Union provides advice and suport to elected Health and Safety Representatives to ensure we collectively work together to achieve a safe workplace.
Workers Compensation
We provide expert guidance and legal assistance on all workers' compensation matters under State and Federal Legislation.
Training
The NUW aims to provide you with the best training possible, to make our Union a strong and active force. To achieve a high standard of competence and understanding, we rely on your voice, your experience and your active involvement. Contact your branch for more details of the training provided for NUW Delegates and Health and Safety Representatives (excluding NSW).

As an NUW member, you may be entitled to free or discounted legal advice and services. Contact your branch office for details.
Welfare
Various welfare services are provided by the NUW to assist members who may find themselves in difficult circumstances.
