National Union of Workers

What do I do if I have an anti-union employer?

Some employers may try to discourage their employees from joining or staying in the union. These employers often promote the idea that the union is an unnecessary interference - an unwelcome third party.

The reality is that the union reflects the views and opinions of its members in any particular workplace. It is not a "third party", it is the collective voice of all the employees themselves.

The major reason companies will try to remove unions from the work place is to shift the balance of power to them and away from the collective strength of employees working together.

Remember, it’s illegal for your employer to discriminate against you because you are a union member.
