Delegate steps down after long contribution

Delegate Mick Watts

Mick Watts recently stepped down as delegate after 18 years in the position at the Glaxo Port Fairy site where he has so far worked for 29 years.

Mick has been a fantastic advocate for the members at his site and knows the EBA backwards. Site Organiser Greg Lee commented that Mick’s contribution to the workplace during his time as delegate was enormous.

“Mick never missed an opportunity to learn more about industrial relations and attended many courses which the NUW held.

This knowledge, combined with his passion for improving conditions for his fellow members, made him an extremely effective delegate.”

Mick’s attitude and commitment to worthwhile causes extends beyond the workplace with Mick being involved in the Port Fairy Show Society, Lions Clubs and Meals on Wheels also.

The NUW’s Victorian Assistant Branch Secretary Esmond Curnow stated:

“I have nothing but praise for all the work Michael has done for the Union and its members over a long period of time at Point Fairy. Michael was a loyal, dedicated and true unionist who believed in and acted in the best interests of members at all times. He will be missed as a delegate but will be remembered for the respect he brought to the position and the Union’s status at the site.

Mick has been assisted in the past six years by Delegate Robbie Brookes who is also stepping down from his delegate duties to take a break.

The Union thanks Mick and Robbie for their fantastic efforts and their commitment to assisting new delegates Jarrod Pigdon, Maree Moutray and Hugh Wakfer as they take over the reigns representing members at the site.
