Herron strikers take protest to Sigma-owned pharmacies

Workers at the Sigma-Herron picket line remain resolute in their efforts to peacefully protest unfair redundancies at the site in Tennyson, with their lock-out ending today.

Yesterday, some members who were intent on taking the protest further than the picket line decided to visit Sigma-owned pharmacies Amcal and Guardian in South Brisbane. Members urged pharmacy workers to sign a petition requesting Sigma to increase redundancy entitlements of workers at the site from two weeks to four.

Organiser Duncan Pegg commented that those who were approached to sign the petition expressed willingness to support workers’ rights.

Mr Pegg expressed members’ solidarity and enthusiasm to keep fighting for the rights which they deserve.

“Our members on the picket line have been resolute and are determined to keep fighting this issue until they get an outcome which is fair.”

Strike action ends today, however the dispute is yet to reach a conclusion.
