Big win for union with Inghams to rebuild

The NUW have been successful in their campaign to get Inghams to rebuild their Somerville factory. After weeks of negotiations with Inghams, a decision was today delivered to members that the factory would be rebuilt. The decision was met by thunderous applause and cheers from members who welcomed the decision.
NUW Victorian Secretary Antony Thow commented on the decision to rebuild the plant by saying " it happened because your Union, the NUW made it happen."
Inghams' Alan Wilson announced the factory would be rebuilt in 12 months time with Mr Thow commenting that the NUW worked tirelessly to save jobs.
"The factory will be on a fast-track rebuild that may take less than 12 months and we're delighted Inghams is maintaining 350 full-time jobs during this time.
During the announcement to members, a short documentary entitled Dear Bob was shown. The short film, made by NUW officials, featuring members, was a personal plea to Bob Ingham to rebuild his plant and was indicative of the campaign by the NUW to persuade Inghams why members wanted their factory rebuilt.
NUW Delegate Thelma Rutene was delighted by the NUW's campaign to rebuild, and commented on the success. "I am 100 per cent happy that all these people have a job again. You can tell by all the applause how happy these people are. Inghams Somerville is a great site."
