Labour hire members organise at Metso Minerals

There are 31 Integrated labour hire members at Metso Minerals in Canning Vale WA – out of a total workforce of 72.
Many of them have worked for Integrated at Metso for over one year. That’s one year without annual leave, sick leave, carer’s leave, long service leave accrual or an entitlement to a notice of termination. And they are paid the same as the permanent Metso workers so they don’t even get a casual loading to compensate for their lack of entitlements!
NUW labour hire members at Metso have had enough and they have submitted a log of claims to Integrated labour hire. Integrated have flat out refused to talk to the NUW about the claims and have pointedly said that they do not wish to bargain.
NUW members are now busy signing a petition which the union will lodge with Fair Work Australia in support of an application for a majority support determination. NUW members at Metso are determined to be listened to and they will use every option available to them to make sure that Integrated listen!
