Members uphold core values of Unity & Fairness during industrial dispute

Corex members on the picket line.

Members at Corex are on their third day of industrial action on site in Dandenong, due to a breakdown in the negotiations after the company refused to recognise its workers' legal rights.

Union members are seeking to keep their current conditions, but the company is maintaining their position, seeking to reduce redundancy provisions for new employees and change entitlement around the taking of sick leave.

One member explained, "Our current EBA is our protection against unfair treatment and we want it to cover all employees working at Corex."

Organiser at Corex, Heath Lamaro said "The company is making negotiations difficult, with members having to seek a petition to get the company to bargain through Fair Work Australia."

Although the bargaining process has proved challenging, Heath explained the workers are determined to achieve a fair outcome.

"Members are united in their pursuit of a legitimate position of maintaining the conditions of their current agreement and negotiating a fair and equitable wage increase,".

Union presence is strong on site with members firing up the barbeque to keep warm, during the cold Melbourne weather. The NUW welcomes all members from the Dandenong area to pop down to the picket to show the company Unity is Strength.
