National Day of Action for Equal Marriage Rights
Support the National Day of Action for Equal Marriage Rights - 1pm Saturday 14 August at the State Library, cnr of Swanston and La Trobe Streets. Why? Because marriage is a civil right, and civil rights is a union issue.
National Day of Action for Equal Marriage Rights
The NUW believes that discrimination against one group in society should not be accepted. We cannot support a situation where one group of Australian workers - gay and lesbian workers - do not have the same rights as other workers. The campaign for same sex marriage is not just about symbolism. Gay and lesbian couples are currently denied hospital visiting rights, access to a partner's superannuation, and the right to adopt or undergo IVF treatment.
We invite NUW members to attend the rally in support of equal marriage rights - look for the NUW flags and march in our contingent with pride.
