New Fair Work System Launched
The Government's new National Employment Standards have come into effect.
From 1 January 2010, all Australian workers will be protected by a new safety net of 10 National Employment Standards and modern awards. From this date forward all employers covered by the National Workplace Relations System have an obligation to give each new employee a Fair Work Information Statement before, or as soon as possible after, the employee starts employment.
The safey net of standards is a positive progression forward for all Australian workers after the Your Rights at Work campaign initiated by unions.
