Qantas lockout
NUW members at Qantas are so far unaffected by the lockout. Click here for more details.
Dear Qantas NUW members, as you would be aware, Qantas has announced it will
lock out employees to be covered by EBAs being negotiated with the ALAEA, TWU
and AIPA from 8:00pm Sydney local time on Monday 31 October 2011.
These workers
are, in the main, licensed engineers, baggage handlers and pilots. The lock out
does not extend to NUW members, who have been directed by Qantas to attend work
as normal. If however, the effects of the lock out lead to NUW members being
stood down at a later date then members should advise the NUW of this
immediately, through their delegate or by calling NUW Assist on 1300 275 689.
The
dispute is also before Fair Work Australia at 2:00pm on 30 October 2011, after
the Federal Government applied to FWA to suspend/terminate the lock out, as well
as any action by the three unions.
