Cadbury workers at the Ringwood Distribution Centre yesterday learnt they had lost their jobs after the company announced they would outsource operations to Toll in2store in July.
Many workers were longstanding employees some of whom had worked with the company for over 20 years. Some staff members were aware the company was thinking about closure the facility but were yesterday told the decision had become a reality.
National Union of Workers' Victorian branch secretary Antony Thow was reassuring in the fact that the NUW would help to secure rights for members.
"The Union will do what it can to ensure they get their full entitlements and then, secondly, try to provide whatever we can to get them re-trained to find them another job,"
The Union is seeking "further urgent talks to work through the issues," on behalf of members, according to Mr Thow.
