Members at Bulla Fear the Return of WorkChoices

Bulla Delegate Cindy Throckmorton with members and ACTU President Ged Kearney

After the ACTU’s president Ged Kearney visited Bulla members in Colac, one thing became clear: members want nothing to do with the return of WorkChoices.

Upon visiting the site, Ms Kearney spoke to NUW delegate Cindy Throckmorton who expressed the most common fears of new workers: “The biggest thing they say is they don’t want WorkChoices back, “ she stated. This concern was often raised by members when discussing industrial relations and possible measures the Coalition may take if elected.

It is workplaces such as the Bulla site in Colac and those in other regional and rural areas, where the spectre of WorkChoices could be potent, Ms Kearney explained. It is these areas whereby job losses could be most often felt.
