Become an activist

  • Does it matter to you when people aren’t treated well?
  • Do you think all people are entitled to be treated fairly and with respect?
  • Would you like to do something about making your workplace safer, or improving your wages and conditions?

If you answered yes to any of the above you can do something about it.

Become an NUW activist.

Activists and site delegates are the life blood of the NUW. They provide the Union with direct knowledge about workplaces and make sure we have direct communication with workers.

There are lots of ways to get involved. You could be a contact for the Union at your workplace, learn more about Health and Safety, find out about your workplace rights, or find out how your workplace can gain an agreement to improve wages and conditions.

NUW activists and delegates have the support of Organisers, Legal Officers and 60,000 other NUW members.

If you would like to do something to improve your workplace, call 1300 275 689, or email us at nuwassist@nuw.org.au

Unions are not businesses selling a service. They are organisations set up by workers to express and exercise workers' collective power.

They are the means by which members can stand up to employers and those in the community with power and say;

“Listen to us – we are entitled to, and we demand, the right to be treated with respect. We are people not just ‘human resources.’ We demand the right to have our concerns heard not as a matter of grace and favour but because you have no alternative but to listen to what we have to say.”
