Second EBA meeting –7/7/2011
For a report back after the second meeting, have a look at the video message from your delegates on the right hand side of the screen...
Murray Goulburn delegates have gone into their second EBA meeting this morning in Victoria. They had two hours to prepare and go over what has been happening at their different sites of the past few weeks.
Delegates discussed the huge achievement in gaining 528 signatures on petition that they will hand to the company today; demanding that Murray Goulburn workers at Tasmania's Edith Creek site, be treated with the same respect and are awarded the same rights as in Victoria.
They have reported their aims on the left in 'Report before meeting 2' and will let all members know how the second meeting went this afternoon. Stay tuned.
New members unite at Edith Creek
Over 30 Edith Creek workers attended an off site meeting on Sunday 17 April to learn more about the NUW and pay and conditions at Murray Goulburn sites in Victoria. Derek Dent, NUW Delegate at Murray Goulburn in Leongatha, was inspiring as he talked about what workers can achieve when they stand together. As a result of the meeting we have an additional NUW delegate at Edith Creek and have doubled our union membership. Congratulations to Edith Creek!
Murray Goulburn EBA campaign 2011
Our Union is off and running to negotiate our Murray Goulburn 2011 Collective Agreement.
The Agreement covers members at Cobram, Kiewa, Koroit, Laverton, Leongatha, Maffra, Nutritionals, Rochester and West Melbourne.
To support the campaign our own Union Bargaining Team has been established. The Team is charged with being responsible for co-ordinating the negotiations. It’s made up of elected site delegates and will meet regularly over the campaign.
A goal of the campaign is to be strong and united. It’s important that all members employed at Murray Goulburn “stick together”.
Our campaign will be based on issues. We will campaign on those issues that are important to our members. The issues will also need to be winnable. We want to make a real impact on our members working conditions.
We also want to stop Murray Goulburn from employing workers at Edith Creek under inferior conditions. Our Union can’t let this continue. All workers at Murray Goulburn should be paid the same wages and get the same conditions. We need to fix it as part of this round of bargaining.
