Industrial OfficerThe National Office of the National Union of Workers is seeking the services of an Industrial Officer based in Melbourne. The position will include tasks such as advocacy in relevant industrial tribunals, general industrial research, negotiation and bargaining, co-ordinating national organising campaigns and working with union members. The applicant should have a strong commitment to the labour movement and a capacity to handle a heavy workload. Highly developed writing, negotiation and communication skills are essential. Tertiary qualifications in such areas as law, economics and humanities etc. are desirable but not essential. The applicant must also have a current driver’s licence. The National Union of Workers (NUW) is currently seeking a delegate educator/trainer based in its Melbourne Education and Training Unit.
The NUW Education and Training Unit currently delivers education programs to assist in the development of the skills and knowledge of its union delegates, activists and organisers The delegate educator/trainer role will be required to develop and deliver curriculum to union delegates, assist in implementing on-going development plans for delegates, develop campaign based training and provide assistance with structured post training follow-up. The successful applicant will be expected to work in a team in a dynamic and often hectic environment. A passion and commitment to the objectives of the trade union movement is a must.
