Families of members at Laverton Cold Storage describe what the fight for fair pay means to them.
When workers make the difficult decision to take strike action the impact goes far beyond the work site - it effects both the families and the community and often the cost is as emotional as it is financial. Often an action can roll on for many months before workers get the just and fair outcome they deserve. In the week before their huge victory at the Laverton Cold Storage Truganina site the families of workers spoke to the NUW about what the ability to take action meant to them, and what their hopes were for the outcome of the strike.
Their support, the support of members in neighboring sites and the resilience of the workers and their delegate has been an inspiration to witness. Their victory is a victory for the whole union movement - we rise and we fall united.
