Statement regarding settlement of Federal Court Proceedings
against Agri Labour
"The Applicants are workers from Vanuatu who commenced legal proceedings against Agri Labour in the Federal Court of Australia because they believed that they had been the subject of wage underpayments under piece rate conditions and threats at work by a Vanuatu recruitment agent that were unacceptable and in breach of Australia’s Fair Work Act. While Agri Labour does not admit the allegations, the Applicants have settled these claims on acceptable monetary terms and also achieved rights to return to work in Australia at a future date under the Seasonal Worker Program."
