The Union for Australian Soccer players, the PFA, has announced a landmark collective agreement on behalf of their member W-League clubs.
Women Soccer players in Australia will for the first time have contracting certainty, a significantly increased salary cap, an agreed commercial framework to underpin growth of the women's game, enhanced medical standards, a maternity policy and better earnings for the women's national team - the Matildas.
This is an outstanding result for PFA members who organised for Equality. While there is still some way to go, it sends a signal to the 250,000 women and girls who participate in women's soccer in Australia, that their talent, persistence and hard work will be rightly rewarded - just like their male counterparts. Solidarity Comrades!
