Chemist Warehouse distribution workers speak out
Former and current employees of Chemist Warehouse are speaking out as part of an ongoing investigation into sexual harassment in Australian Workplaces.
This week workers from the company's distribution centres appeared before The Australian Human Rights Commission National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces and made formal statements about the treatment they experienced at work. This will assist the National Union of Worker’s ongoing investigation concerning bullying, harassment and exploitation at Chemist Warehouse.
Speaking on the experience of members at the comany's sites, Organiser Jenna Christie stated:
“The widespread culture of sexual harassment, bullying and exploitation at Chemist Warehouse distribution centres is one of the worst cases I’ve seen as an organiser. The NUW will continue to investigate and act on these issues to ensure workers of Chemist Warehouse are safe and treated fairly.”
On Friday 23 November two NUW representatives entered a site to conduct interviews with workers and the union is now in the beginning stages of an extensive investigation into Chemist Warehouse.
