QVM delegates meet with the Lord Mayor

On Monday 30 Jan, QVM delegates representing the different types of businesses and stalls at the Market met with Lord Mayor Robert Doyle along with his staff and newly elected Councillor and QVM Stallholder Michael Caiafa.

Stallholders spoke with the Lord Mayor about the lack of genuine consultation in relation to the proposed redevelopment and the ongoing running of the Day Market thus far. With consultative meetings scheduled for the front end of 2017, delegates are hopeful that the consulation process can be improved to ensure stallholder rights are protected and the cultural & built heritage of the market preserved. Delegates reiterated that they want to be part of any improvements to the QVM, and that they have a lot to offer - decades of experience  - to help make sure the QVM remains a home to Melbournians and a destination to tourists.
